Drop your phone in the toilet and think you’re shit out
of luck? Well, you might be! - but hopefully not...
The techs you call are gonna say your phone is screwed but they just
might be WRONG!! note: even if you have not dropped your phone
in water, it might be a good idea to read this so you know what to do
just in case the tragedy might happen
What to do with
WATER DAMAGE - HOW TO Repair/Fix
water damaged cell phones...
Emergency Water Recovery
1. REMOVE BATTERY ASAP!! BATTERY=POWER ... power to your phone+water=short=your
screwed
If the battery has been in the phone for a long, extended time (over 1
minute), I wouldn't try to fix it, because the water has probably
shorted the phone already .... you could try but...
2. Open phone and dry it as best as possible. Try and use a hair dryer
(low low low power). DRY don't fry.
3. Purchase "plastics safe" degreaser/electronics cleaner. You can
probably find it at Home Depot. Even though it is supposedly "plastics
safe," keep it away from all the rubber on your phone (i.e. keypad, side
buttons) because it is probably not totally safe. Spray the
degreaser/electronics clear on the boards, and then use a small brush
(how bout a toothbrush) to clean all the contacts, etc.
4. Now just let the whole phone dry overnight. Even though the cleaner
dries pretty fast, you never know if you missed a spot.
5. Re~assemble and hope for the best!! If it doesn't work, try using a
different battery.
Good luck!!!
